The Porchester Group Ltd and its staff are committed to acting in an ethical and socially responsible manner at all times. To support us in this, we regularly benchmark our business processes and our commissioning and procurement protocols against best practice.
We are conscious of our company's impact on the built and natural environments. We are committed to integrating environmental best practice into all of our activities as well as endeavouring to change behaviours through our work with product providers and clients. We will work towards this through continuously reviewing and improving our environmental performance. We will strive to conduct our business in full knowledge of and compliance with environmental regulations.
We will seek to minimise our use of resources and wastage of materials as far as economically and practically possible and consider the environmental impact of products and services in our purchasing decisions. Where possible we will use low energy light bulbs and take other measures to minimise our power consumption. We will recycle all paper (including shredded confidential waste), newspapers, glass and plastic bottles. We will use chlorine-free paper sourced from sustainable forests and wherever possible avoid the use of building materials sourced from endangered timbers.
The Porchester Group is pleased to play its part in developing the nation's workforce and regularly offers work experience placements to students from secondary schools & further education colleges, and internships to university students. The successful completion of a placement provides the young person with an introduction to the retail finance sector, as well as to the world of work more generally. These placements provide an essential contribution to a student's CV, whether they intend to proceed to higher education or enter employment directly.
The Porchester Group has a close relationship with the charity Specialised Oncology Nurse Grants. This small charity provides grants towards the course fees of NHS nurses who wish to train as specialist oncology nurses. John is the chair of the trustees of SONG. Felix and Rula, together with Uma Somasundram, a long standing client of our firm, are the other trustees. Uma acts as our professional assessor, advising the trustees on the most appropriate beneficiaries from all the applications for funding. To find out more about SONG, including how to make a donation, please contact John Muldoon
